WNBA Sex Toy Stunt Needs to Stop Being Profitable
The multiple sex toys that have been launched onto courts during WNBA games over the last two weeks are physically dangerous to players and disparaging of women athletes and sports. But, and this is arguably the most troubling part of the problem, the stunt has been profitable. In recent days, wagers on the disturbing phenomenon have netted users of online prediction markets thousands of dollars. The bets are so popular that Polymarket, an unregulated crypto-betting platform, recently posted bets on when the next sex toy will be tossed into a game.
